Baby's First X-mas

We spent Christmas with my family in Utah this year. All in all, it was a great trip. We started in Las Vegas to see Uncle Jan playing in the Las Vegas Bowl. Olivia was a trooper, even though it was pretty darn cold. After that we drove to Helper and had to whole family together for the holiday.

It seems that Livvy saves all of her "firsts" for my parents. First laugh, first roll over, and now first time crawling. We finally have mobility! I'm sure that we are in for it now.

Johnny Rotten ain't got nothin' on me...

Yep. I'm bad. Check the mohawk. And just to prove that I have no regard for social order, after these shots were taken I pooped in the tub. ANARCHY!!!

Monkey

What better costume for our little monkey than, well, a monkey? Mom had to doctor the costume a bit as she wasn't thinking about her daughter's massive noggin (93rd percentile) when she bought the costume.

Olivia has learned how to clap (and not just with her hands)!

Baby girl loooves her jumper. Best purchase ever.

So all in all her eigth month has been a fun one. Teething has been a bit of a trial as she seems to just get over the pain of cutting one before another starts working it's way in. We're working on the third one now. Next step, crawling...

Finger foods and a First Tooth

At eight months, Olivia is a bundle of energy. She is not quite crawling yet, but I don't think it will be far off. She is also in the process of cutting her first tooth, and it seems to be taking forever! Thank heavens for teething tablets.

I have settled into work, and Olivia is doing well at daycare, only she doesn't like to sleep when she's there. There is way too much fun to be had, and she isn't going to miss a second. She has always been our little social butterfly. On the plus side, it means she crashes when we get home and I get a little time to wind down.

We have started giving Olivia finger foods. The video is of her first attempt at feeding herself, and like anything to do with food, she took to it right away.

Hi ho, hi ho, It's off to work I go...

After 61/2 wonderful months at home, I am now officially back to work. I worried myself sick for weeks before, and it kinda sucked at first. But now that I'm in the swing of things, I'm finding that work is making me a more balanced person. I'm definitely becoming a less obsessive mom.

This month has seen Olivia able to roll over both ways; consequently, she now insists on sleeping on her stomach. It has also brought a first cold. She caught a cold on the first day of daycare that she has so lovingly shared with both Rod and I. She also attended her first football game. We went to Seattle to see BYU v. U. of Washington. She handled it quite well, sleeping through most of the first quarter, and the end of the game, missing her Uncle Jan blocking an extra pt. kick with 2 seconds to go that won the game for BYU.

Olivia just gets bigger and more interesting every single day. We've nearly forgotton what life was like before her, and we are super excited for everything that is still to come!

Baby Girl Loves the "Raspberries"

This is what happens when "raspberries" and carrots combine...

6 months is swiftly approaching...

She just keeps getting bigger and bigger! She is rolling over now and a pro at cereal. I have been trying to control myself and save those fruits and veges for that six month date, but I must admit my resolve is waining. I can't believe how excited I am just to feed someone prunes.

This month also brought the first time that Rod and I left her for more than a few hours. We made a three day trip and left her with my parents. I must say she handled things quite well. She doesn't experience much separation anxiety yet.

The next step is day care. I am only weeks away from returning to work and DREADING it. I know I was lucky to get the time that I did, but I want to stay home. I'm sure every working mother goes through this...

Four Months: Father's Day and First Solids

As Olivia was already nearly taking the maximum amount of formula that our pediatrician recommends, she gave us the OK to start solids. Just rice cereal for now, but it's still loads of fun for me. By the second day she figured out that if you actually open your mouth you can get the spoon in there and get more in one bite. She seemed to take to it right away, but I'm not surprised considering that she has yet to have a problem with eating anything from formula to medicine.

The picture is from Father's Day. Livvy picked out a special outfit that she knew her daddy would love. :)

Utah Trip

Olivia and I just got back from a trip to Utah to see the family. I think she handled it pretty well. She was an angel on the plane, sleeping both ways (insert big sigh of relief), and was fascinated with all of the new faces and new people to meet. She absolutely loves her Grandma and Grandpa Jorgensen, and Grandpa got her to laugh for the first time. By the end of the trip, all he had to do was pull a funny face to get her giggling. The video is of her laughing. The pics are of Olivia and her cousins Reagan and Berklie who she met for the first time and who are getting cuter every time I see them.

3 months old

As of Thursday, Olivia is officially 3 months old. Here are some quick clips of her at her cutest. The only thing missing is her talking; of course she chats away as long as the camera isn't rolling. We have her starting to explore the idea of rolling over, showing us her new favorite things (her hands and tounge), and trying very hard to wake up from a nap. We also have a picture of her sitting up (supported of course), another new and exciting development.

I can't believe how quickly she is growing! I think we may have hit another growth spurt, because overnight it seems like her head has once again doubled in size along with the rest of her.

Baby Talk

Here is a brief video clip. We actually caught her talking a bit at the beginning.

Sweet Baby Girl

It's amazing just how many picutres you can take of a baby sleeping...Rod and I have never been picture people. At every major event it's guaranteed that we are the ones that forgot the camera. However, in the last three months we have taken about 200 pictures of our little girl, and I would bet that in about half of them she is asleep. I'm posting the best pictures of the last three months. Three months! It's already going by so fast. She has more than doubled in size since we left the hospital. She is alert and talkative and cute as hell. She even gives us an 8 hr strech of sleep here and there (not every night though, we still have our share of rough ones).
